PLYMOUTH, Mass. The official list identifying the jurors who served in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial will remain sealed indefinitely because of concerns about juror safety and privacy.
Plymouth Superior Court Judge William F. Sullivan extended an earlier order that temporarily kept the juror list from being released following the Sept. 4 mistrial.
Sullivan said the case continues to receive “significant and divisive attention” in Massachusetts, across the country and internationally. He also cited social media reactions to the jury’s deliberations and concerns about juror safety.
At least one juror specifically asked the court to extend the protection.
Sullivan concluded that releasing the juror list at this time could create a risk of “immediate and irreparable injury.” The list will remain impounded until the court orders otherwise.
The ruling does not prevent individual jurors from identifying themselves or speaking publicly if they choose. Several jurors have already given interviews since the mistrial, while others have remained anonymous.
Clancy’s trial ended without a verdict after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision. Her next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
